Matt Smith Joins FrontRange as Managing Principal, Portfolio Management

FrontRange Capital Partners (“FrontRange”), a leading provider of strategic growth capital to real estate operators, today announced the addition of Matt Smith as Managing Principal, Portfolio Management.

Mr. Smith, who most recently served as a Managing Partner in Brookfield’s Real Estate Group, brings 25 years of portfolio management and investment strategy experience to FrontRange. During his tenure at Brookfield, Mr. Smith managed an extensive portfolio of real estate investments, including $21 billion of multifamily properties. Prior to Brookfield, Mr. Smith held senior executive roles at the Related Companies, Avalon Bay, and Archstone.

At FrontRange, Mr. Smith will serve as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee, and he and his team will have primary responsibility for monitoring and driving performance across FrontRange’s portfolio of real estate equity and credit investments.

Matt Smith has over 25 years of real estate investment and asset management experience. Prior to joining FrontRange, he was a Managing Partner in Brookfield’s Real Estate Group, where he oversaw portfolio management for a $21 billion multifamily portfolio. In previous roles, Mr. Smith was an Executive Vice President at the Related Companies, and held senior positions at Avalon Bay and Archstone. Mr. Smith earned a Master of Business Administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
